Substance-Free Housing

Residence Life and Housing offers substance-free housing for those students who wish to minimize their exposure in their living environment to alcohol and alcohol-related behavior, illicit drugs, and smoking materials. Students living in these communities agree to not use alcohol or drugs in their residential community, nor bring the effects of those substances back into the hall.

There is no application or contract for substance-free housing.

First year students who are interested in Substance Free Housing should indicate that preference on their housing application. The housing location will be determined based on student response and ability to meet preference requests.

Students who choose to live in this community will make a commitment to themselves and others to abstain from the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs and other substances through and by supporting other community members in their decision to live a healthier, substance-free life.

Failure to uphold the expectations may result in relocation to another assignment.
