Housing Services

The Office of Residence Life & Housing provides many services for our students and takes great pride in our students having a great residential experience. Our office should be your first stop for all housing related questions and concerns. To assist us in our efforts in providing a positive residential experience we work closely with our colleagues in Disability Services, University Facilities, and Campus Services to provide the appropriate services, attention, and amenities for our residential students. University Facilities offers many services to our students and campus community. Campus Services is another campus partner to the Office of Residence Life & Housing in meeting supporting our student's needs in Dining Services, One Card Services, and Support Services.

  • Assignment of Roommates

Vacancies in rooms are available for an assignment at any time during the semester or year. If you want to request a student for the available space in your room, email Taylor Walsh, Assistant Director of Housing, within 48 hours. After that time period, the space is available for assignment. EXCEPTION: If your roommate withdraws at the end of the fall semester, it is possible that a student will be assigned to the space during winter break, eliminating the time for requests due to time constraints in completing housing assignments for study abroad and other incoming students for the spring semester. A reasonable effort will be made to inform you of the assignment of a new roommate but there may be instances when advanced notification is not possible.

If a student is no longer occupying the room and has left belongings in the room, please inform the Assistant Director of Housing. Students must maintain their room in a manner that will allow another student to move into the room. Do not disassemble furniture or use both closets, both chests, etc. Failure to comply may result in a referral to the appropriate Dean.

  • Bathroom Cleaning Program

The University Housekeeping staff will clean the bathrooms located in rooms, suites and apartments weekly. A notice will be left in the room/suite/apartment at the beginning of the school year indicating the date/time of the weekly cleaning. Students are responsible for removing personal trash, University Housekeeping staff will not remove any personal items or trash.

  • Card Access

Students living in the residence halls are automatically assigned 24/7 access to their residence hall and visitation to other halls from 8 a.m. - 2 a.m. Monday - Sunday (except on home football game Saturdays). Non-residents of Atlantic and Pacific house have visitation from 8 a.m. - 2 a.m. Monday - Thursday and restricted access from Friday through the weekend.

Students living in the University Forest Apartments also have visitation privileges to the residence halls.

For more information, contact One Card.

  • Change in Housing Assignment

Contact Taylor Walsh to discuss your options for a room change.

Students requesting reassignment will be responsible for any changes in room and meal charges associated with the new assignment.

Students who make unauthorized room/apartment changes will be fined $100.00 and may be required to return to the original assignment.

Students assigned to transitional rooms may be required to relocate to permanent rooms as space becomes available. This reassignment will be made as soon as possible and in conjunction with the resident’s requests whenever possible.

The University has the right to relocate or remove a student from housing for any reason deemed necessary by the University, in its sole discretion, to meet student housing needs, maintain an acceptable residential environment/community or to create vacancies that would maximize occupancy for each gender.

  • Information Services, Phones, & Cable TV

Information Services provides a lot of support, resources, and guidance for our residential students. With the addition of numerous new residence hall access points in the fall of 2017, connecting to the Network & Internet just got a lot faster for our residents. Contact the staff in IS so they can assist you in connecting your mobile devices, smart TVs, and gaming consoles.

Courtesy phones are available in residence hall common areas to provide additional communication services. Please contact the Telecom Office if you feel that you need access to phone service in your room.

Cable TV services are active when you arrive on campus. Students will need to provide the cable that runs from the wall outlet to the TV.

  • Laundry and Vending

Laundry Services (washers and dryers) via Esuds is provided in each residence hall and in a separate laundry building for UFA. Use your ID card to activate the machines.

  • Room Inspections

Each residence hall room and apartment are inspected at the start of each year and an inventory of items is completed. If you would like a copy of this inventory or feel you need to report damages, including missing or damaged furniture when you move into a room/apartment, please do so by contacting Taylor Walsh by the first Monday of classes for each term.

  • Storage

Most, but not all residence halls have a storage area. If you need an item stored, please contact your RA to place items in the storage area. Be sure to label each item with your name.

All furniture must remain in the room. Room furniture may not be placed in storage rooms. Do not set furniture in the hall or other common areas.
