Room Selection Process
Not available to entering first year students or Law students.
In the spring semester, upperclass students have the option to participate in room selection to pick rooms for the following school year. The room selection process is in StarRez, the Housing automated system. Students participating in room selection must pay the housing deposit to Student Accounts and accept the housing contract by the deadline date, form roommate groups and select a room within StarRez at the day/time of their timeslot. Important Information
-
Housing Deposit Waiver
If you have questions about whether you are approved for a waiver to the housing deposit, you must check with Financial Aid. Residence Life and Housing does not make determinations on who is approved for a waiver and can not waive the housing deposit for students. If approved for one, you will be given access to the housing application and able to participate in room selection. You do not need to accept the waiver; however, if you are assigned to a room and leave housing, the amount of the deposit will be charged to your Student Account.
-
Housing Deposit Information
If you want to participate in room selection and pick a room for the next school year, the housing deposit of $300 must be paid by by the specified deadline.
All pre-assigned students, including Resident Assistants (RA), RA roommate(s), and students in Gender Flexible Housing must pay the housing deposit by the specified deadline.
If you do not pay the housing deposit and want housing for next year, email Taylor Walsh to request to be assigned to a space at the end of room selection.
If a room is selected by your roommate group or individually by you, the housing deposit is not refundable.
Students who pay the deposit and do not select a room will receive a $300 credit on their student account for the fall semester. When there is a past due balance on a student’s account, any deposit made for a future term may be transferred to the student’s account to cover the outstanding balance.
-
Housing Accommodation (Disability Services)
To request housing accommodations, complete the application on the Disability Services website in accordance with specified deadlines. Once approved, Disability Services will contact the Office of Residence Life & Housing. All housing accommodations are subject to availability.

Room/Roommate Switching after Spring Room Selection Process
We will be offering a Room Change Request Form in the StarRez Portal that will open beginning May 1st for returning students seeking a room change for the next academic year. Requests will be reviewed on a rolling basis after the following dates: June 1st, June 15th, July 1st, July 15th, and August 1st. The form will close on July 31st at 11:59 P.M., and further requests will not be reviewed until after all move-in processes and fall occupancy checks have occurred.
To be consistent with our room change policies and to ensure all incoming students in need of housing can be appropriately housed for the upcoming academic year, we are keeping a waitlist of all returning students interested in a room change for the fall semester/academic year. If room changes can occur prior to the start of the school year students will be contacted if there is a space available for a room change per the schedule outlined. Assignments will be based on space availability with priority for placement based on the date of form submission.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. If we are able to make any room changes prior to the start of the school year you will be notified via email and will have 72 hours from notice of the change to decline the change. Failure to decline the change within 72 hours will make the change permanent for the academic year.
