Move-In & Early Arrival Information

Entering Students

Check-in and move in for all entering first year students, transfer students, and international/exchange students participating in a transition program will be on Sunday, August 15.  All entering first year and transfer students not participating in a transition program will with check-in and move in on Wednesday, August 18.  If you are participating in a transitional program, please check with your program advisor or director for any additional information.

All students must present proper identification (e.g. driver’s license, passport) in order to check-in.  Students are not permitted to check-in or move-in prior to their registered time slot.  Student may only check-in during their registered time slot so that we may keep students and families appropriately spaced during the day for a smoother move-in process.

Check-in will occur between 9 a.m.– 4 p.m., both days, on the first floor of Tyler Haynes Commons (Building 270 on the campus map). All students must check-in to be able to gain access to their residence hall.  At check-in students will pick up their mail key and get their SpiderCard activated which will give you access to your room through our wireless lock system. Students and families are also able to visit with and gain valuable information from various campus resources and community partners at Orientation Express in the Alice Haynes Room at Tyler Haynes Commons.

Representatives from on-campus departments will be available to answer questions for students and families.  Please note that very limited parking is located near Tyler Haynes Commons so it is strongly recommended you follow the following parking locations and walk to check-in.

For unloading and parking: It is recommended that residents or Dennis, Marsh, Moore, Robins, and Wood Halls use parking lot C61.  There is limited parking and unloading area in lot R47 for residents of Dennis, Robins, and Wood Halls.  Residents of Lora Robins Court should use parking lot W73 and W76 for unloading with additional parking available in W87 and W88.   Transfer students should park in the lot closest to their assigned residence.  Please refer to the map.

Returning Students

Check-in and move in for all returning students will occur on the following days, times, and locations:

  • Monday, Aug.16, Tuesday, Aug. 17, Thursday, Aug. 19, and Friday, August 20
    • 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
    • Special Programs Building
  • Saturday, Aug. 21 and Sunday, Aug. 22
    • 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
    • Gateway RA Duty Office
    • Note: Arrival on these days is only permitted for students who are fully vaccinated as no arrival testing will be available. 

Students living in the University Forest Apartments, Atlantic, or Pacific Houses must come to the check-in location on their day of arrival in order to receive their room/apartment key.

Students who are vaccinated and have submitted their information accordingly, will be able to go directly to their residence hall room or apartment.  Those that have not MUST come to the check-in location before they move-in to go through arrival testing before having their SpiderCard activated.

Returning students are permitted to park in their assigned parking area and must follow adhere temporary parking and unloading areas.
