First-Year Students

First-year residence halls typically have a traditional floor plan of double rooms and hall bathrooms, but triple and single rooms are a possibility.  First-year students will sign on to StarRez and indicate their preference for a single gender residence hall or a coed by section residence hall.  Please refer to the Housing Application Timeline for important deadlines.  First-year students may not request a specific residence hall.

Need a Housing Accommodation?

Students with accommodation needs may be housed in buildings other than those designated as first-year residence halls; however, these building will be in close proximity to the first-year buildings.  These students will be part of the first-year community and will receive the same information as all first-year students.  Please complete the application on the Disability Services website by May 15th.

Housing Application and Accessing StarRez

To complete your Housing Application you must access it via StarRez.  To access StarRez:  Sign on to Bannerweb, click on the "Student Services" tab, select "Housing Menu", select "Connect to StarRez."  Be sure to follow the instructions on each page within StarRez.  Please note the Housing Application Timeline in the left margin.

Move-In and Check-in Information

First-Year students will move in on Wednesday, August 22, 2018.  If you are participating in a transitional or pre-orientation program, please check with your programs advisor or director for any additional information.

Check-in occurs between 9 a.m.– 3 p.m. on the first floor of Tyler Haynes Commons (Building 4 on the campus map). All students must check-in to be able to gain access to their residence hall.  At check-in students will pick up and get their SpiderCard activated which will give you access to your room through our wireless lock system. Students and families are also able to visit with and gain valueable information from various campus resources and community partners at Orientation Express in the Alice Haynes Room at Tyler Haynes Commons.

Residence Life and Undergraduate Student Housing, One Card Services, and representatives from various on-campus, non-academic resources will be available to answer questions for students and families.  Please note that very limited parking is located near Tyler Haynes Commons so it is strongly recommended you follow the following parking locations and walk to check-in.

For unloading and parking: It is recommended that residents or Dennis, Marsh, and Moore use parking lot B6.  There is limited parking and unloading area in lot R19 for residents of Dennis, and Wood Halls.  Residents of Lora Robins Court should use parking lot W40.   Please refer to the map.

The check-in process can take about 30 minutes, depending on how many students are checking-in at that same time; check-in is the busiest between 9–11 a.m.
